The Mars Garden

5-7 Mars Pl.

New Orleans, LA 70125

2013 - 2023

2020

The Mars garden primarily existed as beautification of a blighted lot. We used cinderblocks to create durable flower containers outside the fence. The interior was designed to be a teaching garden with small workable plots for planting.

2021

After COVID shut down all the student projects at Garden on Mars, Tulane students started back working at the Mars Garden. The students planted, tended and harvested vegetables that were bagged and given to the Broadmoor Food Pantry, which provides fresh vegetables to disadvantaged families in New Orleans. The students also learned how to grow their own sweet potato plants!
